My simple analysis based on paper

In a nut shell: majority of the NBA teams improved greatly given their players stay healthy. A few teams stayed the same (meaning they are still good/still bad). And only one team took a major loss (Miami heat lost their starting lineup and got nothing back). It is highly debatable that the Thunder also took a major loss till I realized they only lost Durant and we must remember how Westbrook became a triple-double machine when Durant broke his foot this past season. Overall, the 2016-17 season should be interesting and entertaining – if anything short of exciting.

    2016-17 New York Knicks

Today is the 4th of July and the dust settles – not from fireworks – but from the volcanic eruption that surrounded Kevin Durant’s decision in free agency to go to the Bay Area with his talents. Through it all little bit of light breaks through the clouds and shines on the New York Knicks who are probably the biggest team slept on through the whole free agency. Being a native of Long Island, NY (born and raised) I have always been a supporter of my hometown team. This team almost looks as promising as the 2012-13 New York Knicks that gave us a 54-28 (.659) record season. My only prayer is that we avoid the plague of that very same season. My Knicks have a tendency to give money to the “Crippled and Elderly”. Crippled in a sense that they sign injury prone players and Elderly in a sense that they sign players past their prime. Luckily, this upcoming season produces players in their prime yet they are still listed in the “Crippled” category. We have Carmelo Anthony (shoulder), Joakim Noah (shoulder), Brandon Jennings (achilles), and Derrick Rose (knees) who upgrade our roster tremendously given they can remain healthy. Remember, the 2012-13 New Yorks had Jason Kidd who succumb to the “elderly” syndrome, Rasheed Wallace who succumb to the “crippled and elderly” syndrome when he broke his foot, and Baron Davis who succumb to the “crippled” syndrome when he completely destroyed his knee. Now I know what you’re saying, “but Baron Davis was on the 2011-12 New York Knicks team” and yes I agree that I got carried away naming off players but you get my point. The Knicks roster is undoubtedly the best it’s looked in the Phil “Zen Master” Jackson era, but it may be best to wait and see how this group meshes – and to see if they can stay healthy – before calling them daunting. Regardless I will forever be a Knicks fan. Happy 4th of July 2016!
